FAQ
Have questions? We have the answers!
We are located at 2130 Cumberland Avenue, in Middlesboro, in the southeastern corner of Kentucky, where Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee all meet.
Sunday Worship begins at 11:00 am. Our online adult Sunday School airs at 10:00 am on Sunday. Prayer and Bible Study takes place on Facebook every Wednesday at 6:00 pm.
There are several parking options. You may park on Cumberland Avenue, or on 22nd Street,, alongside the church. You may also park in the former First State Financial lot across from the church on 22nd Street. If you need more space, and don't mind a short walk (less than a block), you are also welcome to use the City Parking Lot.
There are several offerings for children on Sunday mornings. For the very young, we have a nursery with an excellent attendant who will care for your baby or small child while you enjoy worship. Children a little older are dismissed from service following Communion, to head downstairs to Children's Church, a special, age-appropriate Bible lesson just for them! Of course, your children are always welcome to stay with you in the sanctuary throughout worship. You don't need to worry if they get a little restless; as Pastor Astor says, "The only thing worse than hearing a noisy child in worship is NOT hearing a child in worship!"
Our Sunday morning Worship services typically begin with fellowship as people make their way into the sanctuary. We open with a welcome, announcements, prayer, and singing. Following our Praise and Worship time, we observe Communion. (The invitation to the Lord's Table is open to all who will come; you do not need to be a member of the First Christian Church, or a particular denomination to participate.) Pastor Astor follows Communion with a message that God has given him, and our service closes with prayer and an invitation. Visitors are welcome to fully participate (or not) in any part of the service as they feel led.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with various ministries, or to start another one, if you feel led to do so! If you are interested in volunteering, just let the Pastor know what area you would like to be involved in, and he will direct you to the appropriate person.
We have several small group Sunday School classes that meet prior to Sunday morning worship. There are groups for children, teens and young adults, adults, and senior adults. But those descriptors are just a starting place! There are no "rules" about where you have to be, and you are welcome to try out the different groups to see where you feel the best fit!
If you are feeling a call to service, Pastor Astor would love to discuss that with you! Whether it's joining leadership or starting a new outreach, we welcome the opportunity to support you in your call.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU
